A simple performance evaluator of desiccant cooling and dehumidification technology.

Summary
Hybrid cooling systems with desiccant wheels were analysed. The summer operating costs of the hybrid systems with respect to the traditional ones were obtained using simplified and independently developed software, DTPE, which takes into account the most recent performance values of the desiccant wheels. Calculation assumed steady-state conditions for each hour, using appropriately processed hourly weather data extracted from a European file named TRY (Test Reference Year). A case study is presented.
