Summary

The p-V diagram of the domestic refrigerator compressor accurately reflects the internal working process and the performance. However, it is very difficult to record its inner pressure profile along the working process with high precision because of the limited size of the compressor. There is almost no space on the cylinder cover for assembling pressure sensors without influence on its suction or discharge volume. In this paper, a simplified testing of the p-V diagram is presented. The pressure sensor was assembled through the discharge chamber. A 3-D Fluid-Structure Interaction Model of a refrigerator compressor also was built to calculate the working process of origin compressor and the experiment compressor with part of its discharge chamber plugged. Experimental results and calculation results all show little influence of this type installation on the pressure pulsation in the discharge chamber. This method was recommended for p-V diagram test of the domestic refrigerator compressor.
