A NEW PREDICTED MEAN VOTE INDEX IS PROPOSED FOR ANY DRY OR HUMID ENVIRONMENT BY SIMPLY REPLACING OPERATIVE TEMPERATURE IN FANGER'S COMFORT EQUATION WITH ASHRAE'S STANDARD EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE. THE USE OF PREDICTED MEAN VOTE INDEX AS A SENSOR OF HEAT STRESS AND STRAIN, IS ILLUSTRATED FOR TYPICAL HVAC SITUATIONS AND WITH A NEW COMFORT-HUMIDITY PSYCHROMETRIC CHART FOR INDOOR ENVIRONMENTS.
