The influence of the humidity on thermal comfort, heat load calculation and cooling capacity.

Author(s) : STEIMLE F.

Summary

In the last decades everybody considered the humidity with much less influence to the thermal comfort than in the years 1930 to 1960. Meanwhile there have been several investigations which show that a higher room air temperature demands a lower limit of humidity to reach a higher comfort. Very often cooling load calculation do only consider the sensible heat though the human body also evaporates water in a room air temperature between 20 and 25 deg C. In addition, there are a lot of humidity sources in the rooms which must be calculated especially for the cooling load. The paper shows the importance of the humidity which has sometimes more influence to cooling load than the temperature.
