Summary

POINTS OUT THAT THERE IS NO FUNDAMENTAL TECHNICAL BARRIER TO THE USE OF AN ABSORPTION CYCLE HEAT PUMP AS THE BASIS FOR HEATING UNITS FROM DWELLINGS IN THE UK. THEIR ADOPTION IS GOVERNED BY PERCEPTION OF THE BALANCE BETWEEN REDUCED OPERATING EXPENSES DUE TO IMPROVED ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND HIGH CAPITAL COST DUE TO MECHANICAL COMPLEXITY. AMONG THE CONCLUSIONS STATES THAT UNITS ARE UNLIKELY TO BE ATTRACTIVE UNTIL THEY CAN BE SOLD AT A MERCHANT'S PRICE OF 1,000 POUNDS OR LESS. (INT. BUILD. SERV.
