A thermodynamic property model for R1234yf and propane mixtures.

Author(s) : AKASAKA R.

Summary

A thermodynamic property model is presented for 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoroprop-1-ene (R1234yf) and propane (R290) mixtures. The property model is based on the multi-fluid approximation fot the Helmholtz energy of the mixture represented with the independent variables of temperature, density, and composition. The Helmholtz energy of the ideal-gas mixture is theoretically obtained from pure-fluid ideal-gaz Helmholtz energies according to the ideal-gas law. The residual Helmholtz energy of the mixture is calculated from an empirical mixing rule for pure-fluid residual Helmholtz energies obtained from the international standard formulations for 1234yf an R290. The final property model reasonably represents the thermodynamic properties of the mixtures; the bubble-point pressures and single-phase densities are expressed almost within their exeprimental uncertainties. Azeotropic behavior is observed at low concentrations of 1234yf.
