Absorption heat pumps for greenhouses in the Netherlands.

Author(s) : KLEEFKENS O., KLOOTWIJK M.

Summary

The paper discusses the energy use of greenhouses for different growth patterns of crops. Based upon the need to follow this energy demand as closely as possible, the technical and economical boundaries are surveyed for different heat pump systems, showing that on the short term, absorption heat pumps can be the best solution. Thus, the use of energy, water and CO2 could be reduced by 40-50% per hectare. Two different projects are discussed.
