Absorption in falling film on vertical tube using water/(LiBr + LiI + LiNO3 + LiCl) in air-cooling thermal conditions.

Summary

First, the double-effect absorption refrigeration cycle with the multicomponent salt solution is analysed by thermodynamic simulation. The results show that the cycle does not require thermal energy of such high quality as water/lithium bromide and that the COPs are similar. Second, the absorption of water vapour over a wavy laminar falling film on the inner wall of a smooth vertical tube is characterized in an experimental set-up. Relatively high cooling water temperatures are selected to simulate air-cooling thermal conditions. The absorption fluxes achieved with the multicomponent-salt-solution at concentration of 64.2% by weight are around 50% higher than those of water/lithium bromide at a concentration of 61%.
