Summary

Hot water driven absorption refrigerator has been studied extensively in recent years. However, its thermodynamic coefficient is still low and its cost relatively high. Improving the performances of its key components will improve the performance of the whole refrigerator. In this paper, a new type absorber (the film-inverted plate falling film absorber) is introduced in a hot water driven absorption refrigerator and a steady state simulation model has been developed to predict the refrigerator performance with this type of absorber. Thermodynamic coefficient and parameters at different operation status of the system have been calculated based on the known component heat transfer areas, flow rates, inlet or outlet temperature of the cooling and heating fluids. Computer code has been developed to simulate the system under different operating conditions and performance curves describing the variation of COP under the mentioned parameters have been obtained.
