Absorption refrigeration systems. 2. Applications.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The thermodynamics of absorption refrigeration has been reviewed and developed to establish the theory of ideal absorption cycles, including heat recovery, heat pumps and temperature amplifiers. This theory was then extended to multiple stage cycles. By combining ideal absorption with Carnot driving cycles, the theory of cold generation systems was derived; a concept that is applied to combined heat and power systems. Practical applications of direct fired, cold generation systems and absorption applied to combined heat and power were analyzed; their economic feasibility was evaluated, thus proving the practical viability of absorption cycles.
