Summary
Turnkey absorption refrigeration systems are available in the megawatt range, with operating temperatures of around -55 deg C. A Rotterdam project has now installed a steam-driven absorption system which operates at -23 deg C, with a cooling capacity of 1400 kilowatts. It covers the base load of a cooling requirement of over 3 megawatts. The compact and modular construction with fully automatic start-up and control, in the power range of 10-100%, are described as the main advantages of the installation.
