ACCURACY OF IN-DUCT FAN SOUND POWER LEVEL DETERMINATION OVER A RANGE OF STANDARD TEST INSTALLATIONS.

Author(s) : BOLTON A. N.

Summary

DESCRIBES HOW IN-DUCT NOISE MEASUREMENTS ON 2 FANS WERE UNDERTAKEN AT 6 EUROPEAN LABORATORIES TO DETERMINE THE ACCURACY WITH WHICH SOUND POWER LEVELS COULD BE DERIVED. REPORTS THAT ANALYSIS OF THE DATA SHOW THAT THE EFFECT OF VARIATIONS IN TEST RIG GEOMETRY, WITHIN THE LIMITS PRESCRIBED IN THE DRAFT ISO STANDARD DIS 5136 RESULTED IN A SCATTER WHICH WAS SMALL COMPARED TO OTHER SOURCES OF UNCERTAINTY. NOTES A NUMBER OF FACTORS WHICH HAD SIGNIFICANT EFFECTS ON REPEATABILITY. THE FINDINGS FROM THE TESTS WILL BE USED IN THE PREPARATION OF THE ISO STANDARD FOR FAN IN-DUCT NOISE MEASUREMENTS. (INT.
