Activated carbon filters for use in ventilation systems.

Summary

The article describes the results of laboratory and field tests carried out on carbon filters of various designs. A study was carried out with the aim of examining the opportunities available for using carbon filters for gas purification in ventilation systems. The efficiency, pressure drop and regeneration characteristics were the main features studied during the laboratory tests on four different types of filter media. Benzene, toluene and xylene in concentrations in the range of 1-10 ppm were then used to determine the efficiency. Particularly good results were obtained from a new type of filter in which the activated carbon is applied to a base material consisting of foam plastic.
