Summary

The study concerns a silica gel-water adsorption chiller using the pressure difference between the heat exchangers to accelerate the adsorption/desorption process. The silica gel-water pair is well suited to a driving temperature range below 100 °C. In the present cycle, two conventional cycles were operated in different temperature ranges. Major components of the chiller maintained different pressure levels. The proposed cycle, together with the vapour recovery process, utilized those pressure differences to enhance refrigerant circulation. The chiller can be operated by low-temperature waste heat and has a high performance.
