Ageing of insulated vehicles: theoretical model and experimental analysis.

Summary

In the paper some physical factors affecting the ageing are investigated. A mathematical model of an insulated wall is studied and the influence of the external cover sheets is pointed out, in particular in function of the water vapour permeability. The thermal conductivity of the insulant slab is deeply influenced by the condensation of water vapour. Some experimental tests (K-value measurements) are carried out. The diagrams of the K-values versus the mean wall temperature are plotted for new vehicles and in service vehicles. Conclusions of tests are given.
