On the micromechanics of polymer foam used as thermal insulator.

Summary

The 1/8 part of the regular tetrakaidecahedron was considered to be the model of the closed cell foam. The response of isotropic and anisotropic cells on the tension and compression are studied. Despite of all simplifications and assumptions applied for its conception, the model showed acceptable agreement with experimental results for the tension and compression.
