Summary

THE ADVANCES MADE IN AIR CONDITIONING TECHNIQUES MEAN THAT ONE CAN NOW HAVE AIR-CONDITIONED ZONES IN SHOPS. BY USING THE MEANS AVAILABLE IN SHOP CONSTRUCTION AND AIR CONDITIONING IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO SEPARATE DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS FROM ONE AN OTHER WITHOUT HAVING TO USE ROOM-DIVIDERS. CONTROLLED AIR HUMIDITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR. IF DRYING LOSSES ARE TO BE REDUCED AND GOODS TO MATURE WHILST IN THE SHOP, AIR HUMIDITIES MUST BE ADJUSTED ACCORDINGLY. THE INTEGRATED PLANNING OF CEILING AND WALL COVERINGS, CEILING AND WALL LIGHTING AND AIR CONDITIONING PLANT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT. IN SHOPS OPTIMUM AIR CONDITIONING AND DESIGN WILL ONLY BE ACHIEVED IF THE WHOLE STRUCTURE IS PLANNED EARLY ON, BEARING IN MIND THE AIR-CONDITIONED ZONES WHICH THE BASIC PLAN DEMANDS.
