Summary

This European standard is part of a series of four standards (see also this Bulletin, references 2005-0515, 0517 and 0518) relating to the characteristics of air conditioners, liquid chilling packages and heat pumps with electrically driven compressors used for heating and/or refrigeration. It sets up the test conditions for determining the characteristics of these appliances. It is intended to support the essential requirements of the European Directive 2002/31/CE "Indication of the energy consumption of domestic air conditioners". This part of EN 14511 specifies the test conditions for the rating of air- and water-cooled air conditioners, liquid chilling packages, air-to-air, water-to-air, air-to-water and water-to-water heat pumps with electrically driven compressors when used for space heating and/or cooling. It also specifies test conditions for heat recovery operation of multisplit systems. The standard supersedes EN 255-2:1997, EN 814-2:1997 and EN 12055:1998.
