Summary

A wide survey of general topics related to air treatment for surgery departments, with particular attention to the operating rooms. The article provides a review of the regulations concerning thermo-hygrometric design conditions, air purity, air change rate and control of airborne particles. The basic technological aspects of air conditioning installations are illustrated with emphasis on air distribution. An example is proposed dealing with two systems serving, respectively, the operating suite and the rest of the surgery department. E.F.
