Overflow grilles in operating theatres: a must.
[In Dutch. / En néerlandais.]

Type of article: Article
Summary
Describes the case of the surgical department of a rather new hospital in The Netherlands in which the pressure hierarchy was measured. It was discovered that overflow grilles were missing, although they had been specified. This caused an air exchange between the operating theatres under certain circumstances. Surprisingly, this occurred via the common low pressure exhaust duct system. In addition, an air exchange was discovered between the operating theatres and the contaminated corridor. Model simulation techniques showed that the situation could be corrected simply by installing the overflow grilles as specified.
