Summary

With the realization of the New National Theatre, Japan has its first Performing Arts Center. In both its special composition and technical specification the Opera House of this New National Theatre is beyond comparison with a normal theatre, and a number of issues were involved which would not generally be faced in theatre design. These issues were approached through a process of research, analysis and examination throughout the planning, design and execution of the project. By utilizing "underfloor air distribution system" in the seating area, a refined atmosphere has been created in which the audience seems to share the stage with the performers.
