Air conditioning: the economics of absorption equipment.

Climatisation : intérêt économique des machines à absorption.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The author provides examples of comparative calculations concerning several heating and air-conditioning solutions: a classic boiler used with a cooling unit or a reversible heat pump and absorption equipment used in existing offices and 400 m² of commercial premises. Gaz de France (GDF) performed a survey showing that late 1998 over 100 air-conditioning systems using natural gas absorption units had been installed over a period of less than 3 years. This survey did not take into account systems installed in French gas companies (almost 60 such systems were installed in GDF premises alone). GDF found that 31 hot water /iced water supply absorption systems using natural gas had been installed in 1998 - this was twice the number of systems installed in 1997.
