Summary

THE NUMBER OF PIPE ROWS IN AN AIR COOLED CONDENSER CONSIDERABLY AFFECTS THE HEAT EXCHANGE EFFICIENCY OF INDIVIDUAL ROWS AND THEREBY MATERIAL ECONOMY. IN A 10-ROW AIR COOLED CONDENSER IT IS SUGGESTED THAT THE 10TH ROW EVACUATES LESS THAN 32% OF HEAT REMOVED BY THE FIRST ROW. HEAT EXCHANGE PARAMETERS OF FOUR AND SIX-ROW CONDENSERS IN VARIOUS LAYOUTS AND FAN POWER COMBINATIONS ARE PRESENTED. AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE THERMAL EFFICIENCY FOR MULTI-ROW AIR COOLED CONDENSERS COULD POSSIBLY BE ATTAINED BY A COUNTERFLOW ARRANGEMENT.
