Summary

Development of the technologies for heat pumps which use air as a heat source, has as a result increasing in their use as a primary heating devices for residential and non-residential buildings in Europe and in the World. The new air source heat pumps have a much higher values of Coefficient of performance (COP) at lower outside air temperatures. It is also related to the increase of the seasonal coefficient of performance, through which in accordance with the Directive 2009/28 / EC of the European Union, can be calculated the part of delivered heat from a heat pump which can be taken as a renewable energy. Using the Net Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOPnet) can be also evaluated whether a chosen heat pump can be considered as a renewable energy source. The value of seasonal factor of performance is directly related to outside air temperature, so in this context outdoor air temperature have to be analyzed during a heating season.
