Type of article: Article

Summary

DESCRIBES THE USE OF MEASUREMENTS OF AIRBORNE PARTICLES AND BACTERIA TO INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBILITY OF REDUCING THE AIR CHANGE RATE IN AN OPERATING THEATRE WITH CONVENTIONAL VENTILATION. FINDS DIFFERENCES IN THE MEASUREMENTS FOR AIR CHANGES OF 7.5, 10, 15 AND 20/H AT POINTS WITHIN THE THEATRE AND AT THE SUPPLY AIR OUTLETS, BUT STATES THAT NO CONNECTION CAN BE FOUND BETWEEN THESE AND THE DIFFERENT AIR CHNERTS FINDS THAT THE CONCENTRATIONS OF PARTICLES AND BACTERIA IN THE AIR WITH CONVENTIONAL VENTILATION DEPEND MORE ON ACTIVITY, TYPE OF OPERATION AND FLOW CONDITIONS IN THE OPERATING ZONE.
