Ammonia-water-lithium bromide as working fluid for the compression-absorption cycle.

Type of article: Article, IJR article

Summary

In the search to improve the operation of a hybrid compression-absorption cycle on the working pair ammonia-water, an attempt was made to change the behaviour of water by introducing the salt lithium bromide. The properties of the solution were changed, and it is found that for high temperature gradients, the efficiency is better than for binary mixtures. Nevertheless, for low gradients, the binary mixture is better. Effort are being made to determine the best ternary mixture. Many test measurements must still be carried out, but the best mixture seems to be a solution with a salt content of 40/50%.
