Summary

Not long ago, a new superconducting (SC) helicoid concept has been advanced as an alternative to conventional SC winding design. The main advantages of SC helicoid comparing with conventional SC winding are very high mechanical rigidity and optimal current distribution. These features are especially important for large size and complex geometry magnets. Present investigations are aimed at clarification of some details concerning SC helicoids. The results give ground to further developing SC helicoids of both large size and complex geometry.
