Summary
During a 8-year period, 1,710 patients (886 cardiovascular, 824 orthopedic) have undergone their operations using cryopreserved autologous blood. For conventional autologous blood transfusion, the authors introduced liquid storage in SAGM since 1990. The paper describes the role of blood centers in autologous transfusion.
