AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF HEAT TRANSFER IN FORCED-CONVECTION EVAPORATION OF OIL-REFRIGERANT MIXTURES.

Summary

TWO-PHASE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER MEASUREMENTS ARE MADE FOR EVAPORATION OF OIL-R12 MIXTURES INSIDE A HORIZONTAL TUBE. THE EXPERIMENTAL PARAMETERS COVER THE RANGE OF 0, 2, AND 5% OIL ; THERMODYNAMIC QUALITY RANGE OF 0.002 TO 1 ; HEAT FLUX RANGE OF 2,200 TO 63,000 W/M2; EVAPORATING PRESSURES FROM 0. 29 TO 0.45 MPASCAL ; AND MASS FLUX RANGE OF 340,000 TO 2,400,000 KG/HR M2. A CORRELATION IS DEVELOPED THAT PREDICTS 86% OF THE HEAT TRANSFER WITHIN AN ERROR OF MORE OR LESS 35% OVER THIS ENTIRE RANGE.
