An experimental study on ammonia gas absorption into falling liquid film on a horizontal tube.

Author(s) : INOUE N., YABUUCHI H., GOTO M.

Summary

Heat and mass transfer coefficients during the pure ammonia and ammonia/air mixture gas absorption into the falling liquid film formed by distilled water on a horizontal tube were obtained experimentally. In this study, it was clear that the heat and mass transfer coefficients could be enhanced by increasing the flow rate of absorbent and increasing temperature difference between the inlet absorbent and ammonia gas under the fixed absorption pressure. New correlations of heat and mass transfer in dimensionless form for pure ammonia gas absorption were also derived by measured data, and the effect of non-absorption gas in the absorber on the absorption rate and the heat and mass transfer was verified.
