AN AUTONOMOUS CRYOSURGICAL LIQUID NITROGEN SYSTEM COMPRISING A POROUS HEAT EXCHANGER IN ITS FREEZING TIP YIELDING 60 W COOLING POWER IS DESCRIBED. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE TIP ACHIEVES THE VALUE 78 K (-195 DEG C) IN 7 SECONDS. RESULTS OF ITS CLINICAL TESTS ARE SHOWN.
