AN IMPROVED NUMERICAL METHOD FOR THE CALCULATION OF LOW-TEMPERATURE GAS-SEPARATION PROBLEMS.

Author(s) : KOKERT F., AUZINGER D., PEER L.

Summary

A COMPUTER PROGRAMME FOR THE CALCULATION OF DISTILLATION COLUMNS WAS EXTENDED TO MORE COMPLEX SEPARATION PROBLEMS SUCH AS NESTED COLUMNS, COLUMNS WITH REPUMPING, COLUMNS WITH HEAT EXCHANGE AT ANY STAGE, ABSORPTION AND DESORPTION COLUMNS. IN ALL CALCULATED TEST EXAMPLES A DECREASE WAS OBSERVED IN THE CPU-TIME DEMAND AND AN IMPROVED SAFETY OF CONVERGENCE COMPARED TO THE INITIAL PROGRAMME. BY COMPARING THE NEW ALGORITHMS ONLY SMALL DIFFERENCES WERE OBSERVED.
