Summary

TWO MAIN PROBLEMS ABOUT DESIGN CALCULATION IN AIR SEPARATION PLANT ARE DISCUSSED: THE VAPOUR-LIQUID EQUILIBRIUM CALCULATION FOR THE SYSTEM NITROGEN-ARGON-OXYGEN AND THE CALCULATION METHOD FOR THE COMPLEX DISTILLATION COLUMNS. THE BINARY INTERACTION COEFFICIENT IN THE HARMENS STATE EQUATION IS TREATED AS A FUNCTION OF TEMPERATURE TO MAKE THE EQUATION FIT EXPERIMENTAL DATA BETTER. THE APPLICATION RANGE IS EXTENDED FROM 140 TO 315 K. A DESIGN METHOD FOR CALCULATING THE COMPLEX DISTILLATION COLUMNS IS GIVEN AND SATISFACTORY RESULTS HAVE BEEN OBTAINED BY THIS METHOD.
