An industrial application of a gas-driven heat pump (GHP) by using a waste water heat source.

Summary

In order to utilize industrial waste water in the relatively low temperature range (e.g. 40-50 °C) as heat source, a heat pump system using R134a was considered. In this study, the performance of the heat pump system, which utilizes the waste heat of dyeing wastewater, was investigated experimentally. The other characteristics of the system were also analysed. By combining the heat pump system with the exhausted gas recovery system of the engine, a final temperature of around 60 °C was obtained.
