Summary
The paper presents an investigation to develop a fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) model, which can be used to predict and diagnose faults before the shutdown of an air source heat pump water heater/chiller. The model includes several modules such as a transient state FDD module, a steady state FDD module, a performance prediction module, and an explanation and decision-making module. The techniques from expert system (ES), neutral network (NN), grey theory and pattern recognition were jointly used in the model. The performance prediction and FDD results using the model were satisfactory.
