Analysis of a cryogen free cooling chain with an ADR for future ESA space missions.

Summary

The design and analysis of a cryogen free cooling chain involving an ADR system to cool cryogenic detectors from 300 K to 30-50 mK for future ESA space missions is presented. The work looks at the design of a space worthy cryostat and the cooling chain necessary to cool the ESA dADR on a spacecraft. The system is designed to cool from 300 K down to 50 mK, using available space coolers and the ESA dADR, produced by MSSL. Thermal and structural analysis of the cryostat is presented, with the vibration analysis based upon vibration levels compatible with an Ariane 5 launch.
