THE AUTHORS CARRIED OUT TESTS ON THE EFFECT OF FROST AT THE SURFACE OF FINNED TUBE AIR COOLERS OPERATING AT ABOUT 273 K. THEY DRAW UP TEST RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN FROST THICKNESS AND HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER AND PRESSURE LOSS IN TERMS OF OPERATING CONDITIONS AND UNIT DESIGN. THE SUGGESTED RELATIONSHIPS CAN BE APPLIED TO THE DIMENSIONING OF AIR COOLERS AND DEFROSTING SYSTEMS.
