Summary
THE AUTHORS STUDIED THE FACTORS DETERMINING THE THICKNESS OF THE FROST LAYER FORMED ON AIR COOLERS IN NATURAL CONVECTION. THEY OBTAINED AN EMPIRICAL RELATIONSHIP FOR THE CALCULATION OF THIS THICKNESS. THEY ANALYSED THE VARIATION OF THE REDUCED HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT ON THE AIR SIDE IN TERMS OF THE UNIT DESIGN AND OPERATING CONDITIONS. THEY SUGGEST A RELATIONSHIP FOR THE DETERMINATION OF THIS COEFFICIENT IN TERMS OF THE AVERAGE FROST THICKNESS.
