Summary
An experimental method to quantitatively determine heat and mass transport resistances in adsorption heat exchangers is presented. The method has been applied to elucidate the limiting transport resistance during water adsorption on silica gel spheres and will be extended to other adsorbents including activated carbon monoliths and SAPO-34 coatings. Based on these findings, approaches to improve heat and mass transport are suggested.
