Summary

THE NOVELTY OF THE APPROACH LIES IN A SPECIFIC TREATMENT OF THE INTERNAL ENERGY EQUATION WHICH ENABLES THE UNCOUPLING OF THE EQUATION SET THAT DESCRIBES THE WHOLE PROCESS AND RESULTS IN THE SIMPLIFICATION OF THE NUMERICAL PROCEDURE FOR THEIR SOLUTION. THE MODEL WAS TESTED AND VERIFIED THROUGH THE COMPARISON OF THE PREDICTED RESULTS WITH MEASUREMENT CARRIED OUT ON THE SCREW COMPRESSOR TD-75 BUILT IN A LABORATORY REFRIGERATION PLANT. THE MODEL PROVED TO YIELD ACCEPTABLY FAITHFULL REPRODUCTION OF THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA. IT HAS BEEN USED TO PREDICT THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE ENGINE AT A WIDE RANGE OF EXTRAPOLATED OF-DESIGN CONDITIONS. THE PAPER PRESENTS SOME REPRESENTATIVE RESULTS OF THE PREDICTED PERFORMANCES AND ILLUSTRATES THE AGREEMENT WITH THE EXPERIMENTAL DATA.
