ANNULAR FIN EFFICIENCIES FROM THERMOGRAPHIC MEASUREMENTS OF TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION.

Author(s) : SVAIC S., IVEZIC Z.

Summary

THE PAPER PRESENTS THE INVESTIGATIONS CARRIED OUT TO EVALUATE THE POSSIBILITY OF USING THERMOGRAPHY IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE TEMPERATURE FIELD AND OF THE EFFICIENCY OF EXTENDEDSURFACES BASED ON A CONTACTLESS DETERMINED TEMPERATURE FIELD, THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS, THE HEAT TRANSFERED TO THE SURROUNDINGS AND THE FIN EFFICIENCY WERE CALCULATED USING NUMERICAL METHODS. THE OBTAINED RESULTS SHOW THAT THE TEMPERATURE FIELD ON THE FIN IS AXIALLY-SYMMETRICAL AND TRANSLATED IN THE DIRECTION OF THE AIR FLOW. IT CAN BE CONCLUDED THAT THE THERMOGRAPHIC METHOD MAY BE SUCCESSFULLY USED FOR DEVELOPING NEW FIN SHAPES.
