Summary
A COMPARISONIS MADE BETWEEN FAN COILS AND RADIATORS USED IN BUILDINGS WHERE THE HEATING SYSTEM IS PERIODICALLY TURNED OFF. CALCULATIONS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT BY A COMPUTER ACCORDING TO A SIMULATION MODEL WHICH INVOLVES THE DETERMINATION OF THERMAL VARIABLES EVERY FIVE MINUTES. THE CONSIDERED CASE REFERS TO A TYPICAL OFFICE ROOM, HEATED ONLY DURING WEEKDAY WORKING HOURS. IF THE HEATING CYCLE IS CONTROLLED BY THE INTERNAL AIR TEMPERATURE, THE USE OF FAN COILS RESULTS IN A FASTER TEMPERATURE RISE AND LOWER ENERGY CONSUMPTION BECAUSE OF THE LOWER SURFACE TEMPERATURES OF THE WALLS.
