Application of the AMDEC method to containment of refrigerating plants.

Application de l'AMDEC pour le confinement des installations frigorifiques.

Author(s) : MALEK A., RIOUT J.

Summary

Making refrigerating plants reliable, ensuring that plants are safe for those operating them, ensuring that plants are environmentally friendly and of course complying with legislation on the recovery of refrigerants: all of these aspects require containment of the charge in refrigerating plants. This means ensuring better installation tightness, and implementing better maintenance or refrigerant-transfer procedures, in order to prevent loss of refrigerants into the ambient environment. In fact, containment of refrigerating plants with high charges remains a complex problem that is exacerbated by the large number of persons involved. Analysis of breakdowns, their effects on criticality (AMDEC) is a method used to analyse the operating safety of industrial systems. When applied to refrigerating equipment, this analysis enables systematic and predictive identification of anomalies and sources of leaks, and also enables the implementation of suitable prevention, detection, compensation or maintenance measures.
