Summary
Automation of cold storage warehouses in Japan began in 1973 and started to become widespread around 1985. Various measures have been applied to racks, stacker cranes, load handling equipment, and control equipment in order to maintain their durability at temperatures around -30 °C. Various types of racks, stacker cranes and load handling equipment have been developed according to the characteristics of stored goods.
