Azeotropic and zeotropic mixtures: differences and analogies.

Summary

The paper explains the behaviour of mixtures during two-phase transformations. The author points out that temperature glide is not the most significant property of a mixture, since two mixtures with the same temeprature glide, can show different changes in composition between the liquid and the vapour phase. This fact is very important in relation to the fractionation process that can occur during the operation of a refrigerating circuit, which can give rise to an undesirable change in composition as a result of leakage, or to less favourable flammability characteristics.
