Author(s) : PUTZU M. G., PIOLATTO P. G.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The main uses of natural and synthetic fibres are described, as well as their pulmonary destination and biological effects on human beings. Based on the most recent literature, certain characteristics common to several fibres are examined in order to assess their responsibility in causing adverse effects. This will be helpful for future production of fibres which, apart from commercial utility, will prove to meet safety requirements for human health.
