Boiling incipience in highly-wetting liquids.

Type of article: Article

Summary

The paper reviews the literature and discusses the thermofluid mechanisms involved in initiation of nucleate boiling. The insight gained from this mechanistic model is used to explain the observed superheat excursion and to examine the effects of fluid properties, pressure, liquid velocity, subcooling, surface enhancement, liquid mixtures, and dissolved gas on nucleate boiling hysteresis.
