Summary

FOR THE SIMPLE CASE OF A LIQUID OR VAPOUR BEING HEATED OR COOL ED WITHIN A TUBE, EQUATIONS BY DITTUS-BOELTER AND MCADAMS ARE COMMONLY USED. THE AUTHOR PREFERS THE FORMER AS A DIFFERENCE IS MADE BETWEEN COOLING AND HEATING IN THE POWER APP THE PRANDTL NUMBER. RATHER THAN TAKE EACH CASE THROUGH THE PROCESS OF EXTRACTING THE FUNDAMENTAL DATA FROM PROPERTY TABLES, THE AUTHOR HAS USED DEVELOPED EQUATIONS TO SIMPLIFY THE PROBLEM. AN EXAMPLE IS GIVEN FOR WATER SHOWING A RESULT WITHIN THE AUTHOR'S PREDICTION FOR ALL FLUIDS OF 0.5% OF THAT CALCULATED IN THE LONGER CONVENTIONAL MANNER. D.W.H.
