CALCULATION OF QUENCH PARAMETERS FOR THE SUPERCONDUCTING WINDING OF THE KAOLIN SEPARATOR.

Author(s) : ANDRIANOV V. V., et al.

Summary

THEORETICAL STUDY OF THE RELIABILITY OF A SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET, USED TO PURIFY KAOLIN, DURING AN EMERGENCY TRANSITION TO THE NORMAL STATE. THE WINDING DISCHARGE TO A PROTECTION RESISTANCE IS THE MAIN WAY FOR PROVIDING THE SAFETY OF THE SEPARATOR WINDING. MAGNETIC SYSTEM PARAMETERS AND QUENCH MODEL USED (A COMBINATION OF TWO WELL KNOWN MODELS: THE DISCRETE ELEMENTS MODEL AND THE CONTINUOUS MEDIUM MODEL). STUDY OF THE MAGNETIC SYSTEM IN VARIOUS OPERATING REGIMES: SHORT-CIRCUIT PROTECTED, SHORT-CIRCUIT UNPROTECTED, OVERHEATING, OVERVOLTAGE, UNCONTROLLED QUENCH. SATISFACTORY COINCIDENCE OF CALCULATED AND EXPERIMENTALLY DETERMINED QUENCH PARAMETERS IS OBTAINED.
