Summary

AFTER SURVEYING POSSIBLE METHODS OF COMPRESSOR CAPACITY CONTROL, THE MAIN REQUIREMENTS FOR GOOD CAPACITY CONTROL ARE SPECIFIED REGARDING ENERGY EFFICIENCY, DESIGN AND PRODUCTION SIMPLICITY, HIGH RELIABILITY AND COMPRESSOR ENDURANCE. A GENERALIZED EVALUATION RESULTED IN CHOOSING A SYSTEM OF CLOSING TWO OF THE FOUR CYLINDERS OF AN ACCESSIBLE HERMETIC COMPRESSOR. THE SYSTEM COMPRISES AN ELECTROMAGNETIC VALVE ACTUATED BY A SENSOR AND CLOSING THE SUCTION VAPOUR INLET BY MEANS OF A SERVO-PISTON UNDER THE COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE PRESSURE. RESULTS OF TESTING ARE REPORTED.
